Teaspoon IDE Organization

Manage AI-assisted coding across your organization from a single point of control.
Members simply sign in with their organization account. API key distribution, budget management, and model governance are all handled centrally.

The problems it solves

  • "Handing API keys to everyone" feels risky Giving each member a cloud AI API key invites leaks, personal use, and abuse after someone leaves. With Teaspoon IDE Organization, the real API key is never stored on a member's machine.
  • Runaway usage makes billing unpredictable Set a usage budget cap per member. Only the member who hits the cap is paused - everyone else keeps working.
  • You don't want members switching to expensive models Members see only the model list the organization allows. Access to costlier models stays under organizational control.

Key features

  • Organization sign-in Enable organization mode and Teaspoon IDE waits at a sign-in gate. Members enter the ID and password issued by the organization - no personal API key setup required.
  • Remaining budget shown as a percentage The chat header shows the member's remaining allotted budget as a percentage. The currency amount is never displayed, so members learn "how much is left" without seeing the organization's budget scale.
  • Model governance Members can only pick from the allowed model list issued by the organization. The personal model selector stays locked while organization mode is active.
  • Temporary account suspension An administrator can pause a member's usage with a single action, even while budget remains - handy for leave, transfers, or provisional measures.
  • Switch back to local use anytime Organization mode can be disabled at any time, returning to a personal API key or a fully offline local LLM (Ollama). One PC can serve both managed and personal use.
  • Clear limit notifications A spent personal budget, an exhausted organization-wide provider quota, a temporary rate limit, and a disallowed model each produce a distinct, polite message - raw provider errors never reach members.

A commitment to security

"Requests go through a server - doesn't that mean our data gets siphoned off?" Teaspoon IDE Organization is designed so that concern never holds.

  • The real API key never exists on the endpoint Member machines store only a virtual key that the organization can revoke at any time. Lost devices, departures, and account takeovers cannot leak the real key - structurally.
  • Data reaches only "your organization" and "the AI provider you contract with" The only intermediary is your organization's own server. No obscure third-party AI service or relay sits in the path. Code reaches the same AI provider you would call with a direct API key in personal use.
  • The organization can see what goes where With scattered personal AI use (shadow IT), you cannot track who sent what to which service. A single managed entry point makes usage visible and governable.
  • Source-available - verifiable by inspection Teaspoon IDE ships under a source-available license. What it sends to the server and what it stores on the endpoint can be verified in the code itself - no "just trust us" black box.
  • A fully offline option For sensitive work, disable organization mode and switch to a local LLM via Ollama - code never leaves the machine. The same IDE covers both cloud and fully local operation.

Who it is for

SMBs & development teams

Roll out AI assistance to the whole team while keeping keys and costs centrally managed. Offboarding is just suspending a sign-in.

SOHO & small businesses

Provide temporary AI access to staff or contractors. Assign a budget per person and prevent overruns before they happen.

Schools & training programs

Give every student the same AI environment. Exercises stay within budget, and all accounts can be suspended when the term ends.

How it works

Teaspoon IDE signs in to your organization's server and uses only the "virtual key" issued there to reach the AI. The real API key stays server-side, where the organization centrally manages budget caps, usage periods, and allowed models.

Teaspoon IDE itself remains free, and personal use or Ollama local-LLM use is unrestricted. Organization mode is an optional feature you enable only when needed.

Getting started

Organization mode requires a server-side component for member and budget management. Teaspoon IDE itself is publicly available; building and operating the management system is arranged individually based on your setup and scale.
